Carlton

By the time Carlton had entered the yard,Tanty was already up and about. She was at this moment engaged in the feeding of her fowls. Carlton was sure that the flock numbered close to a hundred. He wondered why the fellas down the road never raided Tanty's coop. As if reading his thoughts she said,"If ah didn't threaten them fowl thief and them, ah wouldn't of have one fowl now. But thhey know me, so they never take chances. ah see you come so ah know that you get me message.You truck working good?'

Before Carlton coud reply, she told him that she was moving out and that she was going to take up residence in Mon Tout, St George's. She wanted to know when he could transport her.

Carlton began scratching his rear ( he had this annoying habit whenever he was excited) and stammering, 'Well eh, ah didn'y know you was leaving us. This is a big surprise. So em, em...'

Tanty blurted out, ''Look ah only want to know when you could take me and me things from here. Don't worry about the money, whatever you charge ah go pay. You truck working, ah know, so tell me so ah could start to pack up'.

After a short perriod of silence Carlton said that Friday night was best so it was settled. He left soon afterwards promising to get some fellas to help move tanty's things from the house on to the truck.
